We are looking for a Communications Manager! The FRUSA Leadership team is looking for a talented Communications Manager to join our team. As a key part of a decentralized, grassroots volunteer-run organization, this leader will ideally have management experience within the marketing, strategic communications, or advertising fields, with a track record of setting and achieving impactful goals. The Communications Manager will also have a working understanding of the Fashion Revolution movement, is in some capacity involved in the responsible fashion industry, or has a willingness to learn about the space.

Role: Communications Manager
Volunteer Hours: 4 – 8 hours per week, depending on the seasonality of campaigns
Anticipated start date: Mid-Sept 2025, minimum one-year commitment with opportunity to extend
Location: This role is remote, but the candidate must reside in the US

Founded in the wake of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh, Fashion Revolution has become the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilizing citizens, industry, and policymakers through their research, education, and advocacy work. Fashion Revolution works towards a vision of a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. This is an exciting opportunity to join and lead our volunteer communications team as we grow the fashion revolution across the United States.
About this role

The Communications Manager will also have a working understanding of the Fashion Revolution movement, is in some capacity involved in the responsible fashion industry, or has a willingness to learn about the space.
We are looking for someone who is:
Entrepreneurial with self-directed motivation
Detail-oriented
A strategic thinker, with experience running high-achieving communications campaigns across various internal and external channels, including: Internal newsletters, digital media, social media, public relations
Easily adaptable to a brand voice and can recommend ways to tailor this to reach new audiences
Efficient and timely
Up-to-date on the sustainable fashion industry and emerging key topics and trends
Recommended, but not required:
Experience in PR, Journalism
Tasks might include, but are not limited to:
>> Leading the communications team to strategize key elements related to social media, web, and newsletter content, including but not limited to: educational material, features, campaigns, and partnerships
>> Bridging teams to activate our Education, Policy, Partnerships/Operations, and Community colleagues around exciting and engaging campaigns that move forward their goals with our community
>> Supporting Fashion Revolution key campaigns like Fashion Revolution Week and more through fresh and exciting communications approaches
>> Scaling internal communications initiatives to galvanize our network of US-based volunteers
>> Assisting as needed, or coordinating onboarding talent, to produce digital, social media, audio, and print content
>> Tracking engagement across various platforms and making data-driven decisions to further the responsible fashion revolution across the United States
>> Engaging in two-way dialogues with Global Fashion Revolution country offices and teams to support local to global initiatives
>> Creating and drafting Press Releases and developing partnerships with journalists and key press and media sources
Who you will be working with
You will work closely with a shared leadership team, focusing on areas such as Policy, Education, and Operations/Partnerships. This role is given responsibility to lead and achieve team goals and metrics around Communications, and is actively involved in strategic decision making. As of posting, this position will be setting the vision and building a communications team if needed.
